About me and CODE FROM THE HILL agency
I am Josip Markovic - a web developer, SEO specialist, and designer, as well as the founder of CODE FROM THE HILL agency. I have been creating websites since 2007, which means nearly 20 years of experience in the industry.
Over the years, I have gone through the entire development journey - from creating websites in Adobe Dreamweaver, to custom development, and all the way to modern solutions and AI tools.
I have worked on projects of all levels of complexity, from simple websites to complex web applications, collaborating with teams of 10 to 20 people.

Starting out and freelance career
I started building websites in 2007, when I began exploring the world of the web as a hobby, using Adobe Dreamweaver to create my first projects.
From 2013, I started working as a freelancer, focusing on graphic design and building websites in WordPress. It was during this period that my hobby grew into a serious and profitable business.
Working with clients from various industries allowed me to develop a strong sense for design, user experience, and business needs - not just technical execution.
Entering professional development
I began writing HTML and CSS professionally in 2018, when I joined the company Valcon. That’s where I was first introduced to professional development processes and industry standards.
Working in such an environment gave me experience with Agile methodology, using GitHub for version control, and collaborating within teams on larger-scale projects.
Alongside development, I also worked as a QA, which gave me an additional advantage - the ability to spot issues early and ensure a high level of quality in every project.
Focus on modern technologies
From 2020, I focused on JavaScript and modern frontend technologies such as React and Vue.
These technologies enabled me to build complex and interactive web applications that meet high standards of performance, scalability, and user experience.
Joining Q agency
In 2022, I joined one of the most prestigious Croatian IT companies — Q agency.
During that period, I worked on projects for large international clients, including the well-known British media company and their portal The Sun.
This experience further enhanced my understanding of scalable systems, working under pressure, and delivering solutions at the highest level of quality.
Starting my own agency
In 2024, I made the decision to start my own business and founded CODE FROM THE HILL. My goal was clear - to offer clients what is often missing in the market: quality, clarity, long-term thinking, and technically sound solutions from the very beginning.
How I work today?
Today, as a web development and SEO expert, I provide complete solutions - from in-depth analysis and strategic planning to building websites that not only look great, but also convert and drive sales.
My goal is to help small and medium-sized businesses look more professional, increase sales, and build a strong online presence through high-quality and properly executed web solutions.
Alongside practical work, I continuously invest in my knowledge - regularly following new technologies, educating myself through expert literature and online sources, and keeping up with trends to always offer clients modern and long-term sustainable solutions.
